Could we have called this a song by Adam Yung Joc?
This concoction, courtesy of the pretty awesome mashup website White Panda, reached No. 1 on The Hype Machine’s popular songs chart today, and I must say it’s a lot of fun. Owl City, or Adam Young as some might know him, reached the kind of fame that only a Postal Service-ish Top 40 Song can garner. He’s on the soundtrack for the new Alice In Wonderland movie with Johnny Depp, for God’s sake. Not bad for a dude who started making music in his parents’ basement in Minnesota.
Twenty-six year old Jasiel Robinson, or Yung Joc, raps about stuff happening, or “Going down,” as he does here. He wants you to meet him in lots of different places where things will be happening. He is somewhat of an entrepreneur, having started his own label to release his music. I must say, hearing his raps about butterfly doors and having as much money as Donald Trump laid over the whimsical electronic background from the ubiquitous Owl City track is a bit odd.
So, enjoy this unique blending of two artists who are linked by their popularity, and now, by a mashup.
