Maria Dunn: “The Elder Sister”

Maria Dunn

It’s not often we post about Celtic music here at TWJ. But there is something undeniably alluring about Maria Dunn. The Canadian singer-songwriter tells tales of love gone wrong (or right) and of peasantfolk looking to make a buck any way they can. Dunn was nominated for a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award (they have those?) for her album The Peddler.

There is some fantastic intermingling of acoustic guitar and fiddle on the tracks we present to you here. Slip a little bit of Bailey’s in your coffee, lounge in the recliner and take a trip to another time and place with Dunn’s lovely, unique blend of folk, country and celtic music.
