Orishas: A Taste of Cuban Hip-Hop

One of my favorite rap groups, the Orishas, blend Latin rhythms with hip-hop beats.  They have been around for years, and hail from Cuba, although they now live in France due to the political situation of Cuba.

Even if you don’t understand Spanish (or they rap in French sometimes too), their beats and Latin groove are still catchy.  If you do understand Spanish, you will appreciate their lyrics about everything from political turmoil of their country and the throughout world, to regular gangster shit.  They also do an excellent job of mixing slower songs with faster songs on each of their albums. These guys are huge in Latin America (you might get some cool points for knowing about them), and even Europe, but haven’t been as popular in the states.  I think that should change.  Que disfruten la musica!
