Fleet Foxes: “Helplessness Blues”

Fleet Foxes

And thusly we will join the throngs of other blogs in the posting of the new song from the band named Fleet Foxes. Be it on a wave of Indie/Hipster/Folk-idites with beards and flannel who dig the “feely” parts of songs, we will proudly and wildly declare that WE LOVE THIS SONG.  Not because it’s been nearly 3 years since the last bit of harmony from the Washington bunch, but instead because the way it makes us feel after a day of work/slog.  Putter through traffic and dirty snow, endure the itchy tag in back of your shirt and swipe your nose with a rag once more; “Helplessness Blues” takes palm to problem and shoves it down into the neverwas.  The quiet open of guitar and Robin Pecknold whisper tricked me into cranking the volume up, then smacked me in the happy brain parts just like “White Winter Hymnal” did way back when.  Kudos to the doctor that told Pecknold to rest his voice for so long, it was worth it.  He sounds loud, proud and beautiful.  “Helplessness Blues” signals an expulsion of “feely” and the induction of self-assured being.  Guuuuuuuuuuuush.  Further news tells us we can expect the Phil Ek produced full-length, also titled Helplessness Blues, MAY 3RD.  You can PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM HERE.  Other rumored tracks to be included may or may not be “Lorelai”, “Bedouin Dress” and “Blue Spotted Tail.”  Enough jibber jabber, listen to (!) and download (!!)  the brand new Fleet Foxes track below!
