A couple of paragraphs into the background information on Australia’s San Cisco, it’s mentioned that one of the activities they engaged in during the past year was “graduating high school”. As I listened to “Golden Revolver”, that fact sunk in and began to make a whole lot of sense. Not because the band’s sound is amateurish — far from it, in fact — but because the youthful exuberance and optimism shine through the jangly guitar harmonies and rattling percussion on this track. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s easy to picture the group frolicking around “sunny Western Australia” with their instruments in tow.
Give “Golden Revolver” a try — along with secondary track “Solitude Is Bliss”, a Tame Impala cover — and try to envision a bunch of carefree teenagers with sunglasses on. See them strum their guitars, thumb their bass and bang on their drums. Or, if your imagination’s not all that great, watch them build a pirate raft out of rudimentary materials, happily set sail and then capsize, all with smiles on their faces. That’s the video. Enjoy!
