Video: Bibio -“Excuses”

Bibio

Stephen Wilkinson is Bibio, a name taken from a type of fly his father used on fishing trips they took together.  It’s been two years since his last record, Ambivalence Avenue; though one of it’s extreme highlights, “Lover’s Carvings”, is still alive and kicking the book down in Kindle commercials.  The English producer skates the lines between electronic mixscapes and indie anthems, frequently blending the two so closely together you’d swear you just saw a hipster dance sober.  His music is miraculous.  And his new record, Mind Bokeh (=Mind Broker?), looks to be more of the same,  with a bit more ambience and funk infused throughout.  The visual for the first single, “Excuses” features distortion and colored shadows glancing off the flashes of bright buzzes of the song.  The single itself will be available from Warp Records February 28th, along with a B-side cover of “Old Friends”, a Simon and Garfunkel tune.
