Hannah Peel: “The Almond Tree”

I sort of picture Hannah Peel sitting in front of her piano on a beach somewhere, lovingly plinking the keys as the waves lap the shore. An odd image, I know, but after listening to “The Almond Tree”, from her debut record The Broken Wave, I’m full of all kinds of whimsy. Peel fits right into the British folk movement happening with artists like Laura Marling and Mumford & Sons. Strong melody, gentle voice and at times a real heavy dose of rhythm.

Give the song about a minute to gain steam, and then enjoy bouncing along with it. Also, check out her cover of “Tainted Love”.
