Apparat: “Ash/Black Veil”

I hadn’t heard of Apparat until I learned the wonderful label Mute — that of Junip and Jose Gonzalez — had signed the German electronic artist and that he would be releasing an album this summer. After listening to “Ash/Black Veil”, I’m actually excited to hear what that album has in store. This track is a lush patchwork of sounds and textures, and the artist’s voice adds a wonderfully subtle touch to a song that, underneath, is frantic and full of movement.

Apparat is no rookie. He’s released three electronic albums in Germany, but his upcoming release is apparently a venture into some new musical territory. I’m not familiar with his earlier work, but if his new material is in the same vein as “Ash/Black Veil”, I can’t imagine the album won’t garner some serious buzz. Check out the track below, it’s a really cool listen.
