Video: Kimbra – “Cameo Lover”

Kimbra_blogLarge Pretty girls in dresses, dancing and smiling?  Self; I truly thought you were stronger than that.  But New Zealand’s Kimbra blends Indie, Jazz and Soul into a style even Prince and Janelle Monae would be proud of.  So with such a fantastically catchy song behind the new video for “Cameo Lover”, I can’t be too mad at my self.  In the clip, Kimbra and colorful Co. appeal to the better nature of our senses, hoping to win the eyes and hearts of the isolated.  You’ll need to watch it more than twice in order to catch all the small touches that match perfectly with the song’s stacked features.  And if you watch carefully, you’ll notice that the two girls featured in her first video for “Settle Down” are back too.  I think at first, my attention was purely amorous.  But Kimbra’s voice and style are the real deal.  The rest, is just a welcome bonus.

Cameo Lover by Kimbra

The EP for “Cameo Lover” is available now, with two remixes and a live cut of “Settle Down” included.  We can expect her full-length: Vows, to be released late in the 2011 Summer.  She had this to say about it:

It is pretty much finished. I’m still doing little things here and there but it’s all ready to be shared with everyone really soon. I think we’re looking around the August/September time? We’ll obviously be following that with a national album tour so that’ll be really exciting to take the album to people first hand around the country!

She is of course, talking about a tour in her native area of New Zealand/Australia.  We in the States will have to wait just a bit longer I’m afraid.

In the meantime, download a live recording of “Cameo Lover” and watch its performance!

This so remindds me of a modern-day Cardigans. Great quirky find!
