Chad Valley: “Fast Challenges”

chad_valleyUsing a kaleidoscope, if you were to spy upon a bubbling housewife dancing in a robe of velvet, Chad Valley’s “Fast Challenges” would invariably become that moment’s nocturne.  True, there’s an almost liquid feeling about the ripples and sweeping bows that give the track such a full-bodied presence .  But with all the layers Valley is famous for manifesting and then stacking, a substance is always created; a graspable, touchable thing.  It’s through a layer of velvet that the muted vocals filter, and it’s through a kaleidoscope that the shapes and colors shift tumble in slow-motion.  And, it’s through a confined joy finally managing to rip through the seams that we see such a tender and excellent display of great music.

Chad Valley is the moniker of one Hugo Manuel, who operates as the frontman for Oxford, UK-based quintet Jonquil and acts as one of the founding members of the Blessing Force collective.  At one point, after his self-titled debut EP was introduced last year, he became the fourth most blogged about artist on the earth.  Coming June 20th, his second EP entitled Equatorial Ultravox will be released through Cascine Records.  Listen to and download the 5th and 7th tracks from the forthcoming 7 song EP below!
