Balto: October’s Road

I have been wanting to share this band for a while, but even though I blog about music, there are still those bands that no one else has heard of and you just want to keep them a secret. It never seems to work out, especially with a band like Balto, who could blow up at any time. The first song that I heard from Balto was “The Railyard,” which is a song that’s hard to resist, it has harmonies, banjo, and sorrowful lyrics. These days this is a combination for success, but Balto manages to gives it their own style.  October’s Road fits the story perfectly. Daniel Sheron left his life in Moscow to travel through desolate Siberia. When he returned to the states, he and his friends recorded the album in one night, a quite incredible feat for the intricate yet simple sounds. The first two songs “The Railyard” and “Self Portrait” are both stand out songs. Check out the whole album at Bandcamp.
