More Amor: “Young Hollywood”

Some songs are simply irresistible. There’s heart-on-sleeve lyrics complete with a memorable one-liner, there’s a simple melody that burrows deep in your brain, and there’s just an air of straightforward, perhaps cliche emotion that carries through from start to finish. And it doesn’t hurt to throw in a sweeping, sing-along serenade! Los Angeles band More Amor have created one of those songs with “Young Hollywood.” The chorus — God I’m gonna eat you up, then I’m gonna do your drugs — is song so sweetly that I can’t help but melt in its arms. It appeals to the teenage music fan that whose sensibilities will always lurk somewhere near my surface. You know, now that I’m a sophisticated 20-something.

Check out “Young Hollywood” below, and watch the video, which is retro movie clips strung together and timed up to fit the lyrics of the song. And go to the band’s official site, where you can download a 6-song mixtape from them for free.

Love everything about this song in about the guiltiest way possible except for that final ‘Yeah.’ For some reason that bugs the hell out of me. Everything else, though, is solid gold.

Haha, see I actually laughed at that final ‘Yeah.’ But I totally agree that this is one of those guilty pleasure songs. But if you love it, you love it. Thanks for commenting, man!
