Mitten: “Green”

6a01116901308f970c0147e26777ec970b-500wi Got some ninja love from our favorite Brooklyn Indie Pop band Mitten last night.  We have now been officially alerted to a great many number of things developing for the duo.  First, in a bold move of generosity seldom seen in these post-Osama times.  They’re giving away a new/old song and its swell companion remix for free!  “Green” is a song Maia Macdonald and Joanna Katcher collaborated together on even before they gathered together under the fuzzy banner of Mitten.  It’s right up my alley, phrasing a feeling and a moment in terms of a color.  And considering the collaboration took place over time via phone/email, it feels remarkably like they simply looked at each other and gushed into a microphone.

You can grab “Green” and the trippy remix for free at their BandCamp page until June 25th.  Which is a Saturday.  Which is also the day of a big show they’re headlining at The Rock Shop.

Next we have the actual physical release of their debut album, See You Bye, out on Amazon.com for hardly any money at all.  They’ll be following all this up with a smorgasbord of shows in the New York area, including one in Oregon.

And if that’s not enough, while you shop for bras you might just hear some of their tunes overhead in your local Victoria’s Secret and other retail venues across our fair nation.  I might be shopping for women’s underwear in the near future.

They’re a great band, and great people.  And we recommend you dive in with your toes dry.  Watch some recent interviews and performances they did (with not us) below.
