Alastair Ottesen: “Life Is But A Dream”

Alastair Ottesen was born in Scotland, raised in Texas and currently resides in Brooklyn. His music travels as well. This track from Ottesen’s five-song EP You Can No Longer Blame It On The Machines meanders from strumming electroacoustic folk ditty about fear and violence to a buzzing, humming, rattling tune about the power of love. Seems like a long, unlikely journey, right? But Ottesen accomplishes the feat in fewer than three minutes, and does so in engaging fashion. He sort of sounds like a cross between the hazy-eyed melancholy of Elliott Smith and the twitching, lively electro-folk of Ben Cooper. Grab “Life Is But A Dream” below, and listen to the whole EP on Ottesen’s bandcamp and soundcloud pages.
