“Cruel/Kind” is a splendid slow burner, offering a you-sized hole that you can drop perfectly into, and slide out of when you’re all done bye bye with it. Tads and traces of Andrew Bird quiver and Beach House currents can be heard here, and in even further depth on Grant Olsen’s new record, The Ornament. Under the moniker Gold Leaves, Olsen (one half of Arthur & Yu) offers a great album, which features the talents of Thao Ngyuen, Jason Quever of the Papercuts, Amy Blaschke, as well as the Moondoggies.
