Caroline Smith & the Good Night Sleeps: “Calliope”

Hillary Berg A calliope is a type of steam whistle organ controlled by keys, but it’s also the name of the mythological muse of heroic poetry.  On Caroline Smith & the Good Night Sleeps’ new/sophomore record Little Wind, the song of the same name refers to the calliope as a place of refuge from both danger and disappointment.  With Caroline Smith’s alto timbre setting a solid path in front of us, all we need do is follow and learn by the wayside signs of lost loves and future plans.
