I am susceptible to the singers and songwriters, with their strumming guitars and sparse arrangements, their gift for capturing the heartbreak after a messy breakup, or the joy when flirting turns to courtship turns to love. It’s one of the reasons I was drawn to Thomas Calder, aka The Trouble With Templeton, a few short months ago. And it’s why I get excited when he has new things to offer. The third single from Calder’s upcoming album Bleeders (out November 4) is “I Wrote A Novel,” and it’s loveable for its simplicity. A wonderful guitar melody, some handshakers and a nice female background vocal go a long way. Check it out below.
